Summer 2022 Women’s Bible Study – “Praying the Psalms with Jesus”

By

Women are invited to a special summer Bible study focusing on “Praying the Psalms with Jesus.” Our study will begin Wednesday, June 8th, at 10:15 am in the sanctuary following morning prayer (Morning Prayer meets at 9 am in the sanctuary and we encourage you to come early to participate). Each lesson will stand alone, so please join us as you’re able. Please contact Rachel Vendsel (rachel@cpcpca.org) with any questions.   A word from Rachel Vendsel about this study: John Calvin called the book of Psalms “an anatomy of all the parts of the soul,” and said that the psalms act like a mirror reflecting back our hearts. He goes on to describe the way the Holy Spirit gives us language to describe our hearts before God: “… all the griefs, sorrows, fears, doubts, hopes, cares, perplexities, in short, all the distracting emotions with which the minds of men are wont to be agitated” in holy words that we can learn to pray, the same way Jesus prayed them. Praying the Psalms is a means of grace and a key discipline in our church’s life together.  Whether you are new to the psalms or deeply familiar with them, I trust that we all have…

Women’s Night at the Range

By

Women (18 years and older) are invited to join us for an evening at the gun range on Friday, March 13th. This evening is intended to provide an opportunity not only for fellowship, but to give women in our congregation and any guests the opportunity to shoot with other women – which can be a much less intimidating environment than with their husband, dad, or other male in their life. We’d also like to provide a safe space to allow those women who may have never shot a pistol to try something completely new and learn important gun safety and handling. We will meet at the church at 6 pm for a safety briefing and a review of pistol shooting fundamentals. We’ll then proceed to the range where we will do some organized drills intended help you work on shooting fundamentals and improve your shooting. We could have a little friendly competition if anyone is game and even grab a bite or drinks afterward if there’s time. There will be a cost associated with this event and all range fees will be paid directly to the range. Plan on approximately $15-20 for range fees and we will use a minimum…
